With all the talk surrounding the Golden Globe Awards, many are wondering what all the celebrities will be wearing. In case you were wondering, Michelle Yeoh will not only be at the Golden Globes but she will be wearing ‘the ring’ from the movie Crazy Rich Asians.
Yes, she will be sporting the exceptional diamond and emerald ring her character Eleanor wore in the movie.
I talked to Michelle Yeoh (who should've been nommed) today and yes, she plans to rock the Crazy Rich Asians ring at the #GoldenGlobes (and is ecstatic for Constance Wu, Sandra Oh & the whole CRA fam): "I hope this is the beginning of a new renaissance…" https://t.co/VWPVOVpt4k pic.twitter.com/XArI4QQepg

The ring is a symbol of everything Eleanor has worked for, as well as her pride. It is the unattainable status the main character, Rachel strives for in pleasing her boyfriend’s family.
And it is perfectly suited to the elegant Michelle Yeoh.
Yes, Michelle Yeoh should have received a nomination for Crazy Rich Asians. But you'll still see her at the Golden Globes… wearing THAT ring. https://t.co/3WpEwZnAZk

I love Michelle Yeoh. "I don’t wait for people to send me flowers. If I want them, I’m going to send them to myself." https://t.co/PjrIcsypeZ

Now, this would be one of the few reasons to use a mani-cam IMHO. Hope to see the ring up close!

Ooh, I love this reported detail @jenyamato but just warning everyone now that I burst into tears at the sight of that ring and no it has nothing to do with how blingy it is.

This will be the ONE and ONLY time that I want to see the silly manicure-cam!

Speaking on wearing the ring to the awards event, Yeoh said,
“I think I have to, because the ring is so much a character in the film. What a perfect thing! I must. I will absolutely do that.”
While it might seem like pure promotion for Yeoh to wear the ring to the premiere of the movie, it actually belongs to her. She wasn’t a fan of the original prop ring and offered one from her collection instead.
And how could you say no to Michelle Yeoh?
The legend that is Michelle Yeoh saw the original ring, she didn’t like it..thot it looked inexpensive; and showed Jon M. Chub her ring (that one)! Her assistant then had to bring it! ????

Others online are more surprised that she wasn’t nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance. While her character fulfills an antagonistic role, it is one filled with nuance and power, brought by Yeoh’s acting.
Who in their right mind wouldn’t nominate her?
Maybe they can atleast nominate her at the same time. Why she isn't nominated is beyond me.

She should have been nominated too

Very pleased that the HFPA has nominated Constance Wu for a Golden Globe this year, but to not recognize the ever sublime Michelle Yeoh is a travesty that one hopes the Academy won't repeat. Note: the last (& only) Asian actress to win an Oscar was Myoshi Umeki in 1957. pic.twitter.com/jg3bdJll7P

listen i get it we are all shocked that michelle yeoh wasn’t nominated for a golden globe for crazy rich asians https://t.co/Jg7kWHrMKe

Michelle Yeoh didn’t get a Golden Globes nomination?! The fools.
— Randall Trang (@RandallTrang) December 6, 2018
I only saw like two movies this year, but might as well see what was nominated for Golden Globes, not that they matter…
Michelle Yeoh wasn’t even nominated?! A shame on your house, HFPA! Now go to your room and think about what you did.

Crazy Rich Asians was released earlier this year and tells the story of Rachel, played by Constance Wu learning her boyfriend comes from a rich family. Throughout the film, she tries to win the approval of his mother, Eleanor played by Michelle Yeoh. The film itself is up for a Golden Globe in Best Motion Picture-Musical or Comedy category, and Wu is nominated for Best Actress in a Motion Picture-Comedy or Musical.
