Tihisha Jones is a 49-year-old single mother who lives in the South Bronx and suffers from a heart condition. Her condition sometimes makes it difficult to get around, so she purchased a 2005 Honda Pilot.
Yesterday morning, she auto-started the SUV so it could warm up before she took her five-year-old son to work. When she got outside, she saw a stranger sitting in the driver’s seat of her car.
The stranger was 19-year-old Bernado Santiago, and he was attempting to steal the car she had worked so hard to purchase. Jones opened the passenger door but Santiago shut it on her. Jones proceeded to go to the driver’s side and yank Santiago out of the vehicle.
A neighbor heard the commotion and caught the incident on video.
Dude tries to steal her car this morning. She pulled him out the truck and proceeded to beat his ass. Here’s what happened next. #welcometothebronx #thisaintSOBROitstheSOUTHBRONX pic.twitter.com/e8RBf0oK14

As seen in the footage, at one point Santiago tried to wriggle out of Jones’s clutches. Jones grabbed his shirt, but he tried to slip out of his shirt to get free. At this point, Jones fully tackled Santiago and held him until the police arrived.
When speaking to ABC News, Jones said:
“I had to take matters into my own hands because I work, I saved to get that car myself.”
This was not Jones’s first issue with her vehicle. Two weeks ago, her rear spoiler was stolen, and last week a window was broken.
The internet is amazed by Jones’s bravery and commitment to getting justice.
This is fucking gold. Amazing lol.

Also, good for this woman. I'm glad she (and her wandering offspring!) wasn't hurt. Can't say the same for the thief. Lol. He was probably relieved to see the PD finally roll up! https://t.co/Qhi8K110K0

Santiago claimed he thought the vehicle was an Uber he ordered. He has been charged with attempted grand larceny, petty larceny, and criminal possession of stolen property.
