A Hidden ‘Black Mirror’ Easter Egg On Netflix Has Fans Speculating About A New Movie ????

Netflix subscribers scrolling around for new titles may notice an untitled graphic of a radial symbol indicating a downloading file in progress.

Screenrant revealed that the streaming service has unceremoniously dropped a special Black Mirror movie or interactive episode titled Black Mirror: Bandersnatch in the form of an Easter egg.

Charlie Brooker’s science-fiction anthology series that comments on society’s obsession with technology was previously presented by Channel 4 in the U.K. But in September 2015, it became an official part of the “Netflix Original” lineup as a third season comprising 12 episodes.

But this is the first time that a Black Mirror title is presented under the banner as a “Netflix Film,” according to Vice.

Bandersnatch, which is expected to drop in late December, will not be the first time Black Mirror had a feature-length running time. Past featured episodes like “San Junipero” and “U.S.S. Callister” were equivalent to the duration of a movie and have each taken home Emmys for Outstanding Television Movie.

Back in March, Netflix announced a fifth season for Black Mirror and had fans squealing at the prospect of binging their way through the dark world of tech.

While the media service giant forever changed the landscape of home entertainment viewing with existing and original content, they are looking to push boundaries even further by experimenting with interactive TV. Viewers will soon be able to shape the outcome of a show by choosing an ending.

Netflix already has this feature with the children’s show Puss In Book, but the streaming service is expanding the capability for mature content and might be featured in Bandersnatch. While viewers being in control is a game-changing departure from passively watching shows, it will be a huge endeavor to produce.

It will require writers to come up with additional hours worth of storylines to convey every possible ending, affecting the time and cost it takes for the crew and actors to set up additional scenes. Nevertheless, Netflix will once again continue keeping subscribers engaged and tech-forward.

While not much is known about Bandersnatch, leaked onset photos featuring a Blockbuster Video storefront suggest that it could take place in the ’80s.

But Netflix is remaining tight-lipped regarding details.

Miley Cyrus will have some involvement, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Cyrus told Howard Stern about the work she put into her dynamic role in Black Mirror, but fans are confused about whether her appearance will be on Bandersnatch or in an episode from the show’s fifth season.

“There’s a lot of dimension to it, and actually it was while the devastation of Malibu was happening, and it was a really weird learning experience for me because I was so far from home and the show is already really dark, and it’s already kind of eerie when you’re there the whole time.”

Another sneak peek of Bandersnatch revealed itself online.

Anticipation continues to build for Season 5.

Netflix has been cryptic about new Black Mirror episodes, but someone discovered Bandersnatch might have origins going back to season 3.

Fans are pumped.

One fact is confirmed: Bandersnatch will not be considered part of Season 5 and will be released on December 28 as a single-story experience. From the sound of things, it promises to be a trip.
