Barack Obama Paid A Very Special Christmas Visit To Patients At A D.C. Children’s Hospital ❤️

Former President Barack Obama donned a Santa hat and spread some holiday cheer to young patients and staff at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C. Obama came bearing gifts, too, handing out jigsaw puzzles, remote control cars, and even nail polish to children who were delighted to meet him.

“As a dad of two girls, I can only imagine in that situation ― to have nurses and staff and doctors and people who are caring for them and looking after them and listening to them and just there for them and holding their hand ― that’s the most important thing there is,” Obama told hospital staff. “What a great reminder of what the holiday spirit is supposed to be all about.”

Children’s National thanked the former president “for making our patients’ day so much brighter.”

“It was truly a wonderful surprise!” Amy Goodwin, the head of public relations for Children’s National, told People.  “One of the kids started crying, and another child, who had been too weak to stand for the last few weeks, insisted on getting up to stand for a photo with Obama.”

Obama later expressed his gratitude for “the extraordinary kids, families, and staff at Children’s National.”

He added: “And thanks for humoring me as your stand-in Santa.”

It looks like the video of the former president speaking to hospital staff and greeting children was just what many of us needed this holiday season.

Bravo, Mr. President! We know this news has made our hearts grow several sizes this holiday season.
