Revelation That Kylie Jenner Is Already As Wealthy As Jay-Z Sparks Debate About Race And Privilege

The internet is tearing itself apart after finding out Kylie Jenner and Jay-Z have the same level of wealth. It has led to discussions of black wealth and how we compare old and new money.

Earlier this week, Forbes released its list of the richest celebrities. Factoring in net earnings, company ownership, and other assets, they estimated how much the 10 wealthiest celebrities are worth.

Topping the list was George Lucas, with an estimated worth of $5.7 billion. Next were Steven Spielberg, Oprah Winfrey, and Michael Jordan, respectively. Tied for fifth place were Kylie Jenner and Jay-Z, with $900 million apiece.

There were those who felt Jay-Z deserved more respect for his position.

Jenner accumulated much of her wealth from her cosmetics line, launched two years ago and estimated to have made more than $630 million. Jay-Z has been making his money from his stakes in Armand de Brignac champagne and D’Ussé cognac, along with the streaming music service Tidal.

Jay-Z said in an interview with Forbes:

“That was the greatest trick in music that people ever pulled off, to convince artists that you can’t be an artist and make money,”

Kylie’s wealth is very impressive for her age.

This scenario has led to a discussion on who is more deserving. Jay’s fans have discussed how he came from nothing and earned his way to the top with his rap career and business investments. But on the other hand, despite coming from money, Kylie has much more wealth than her sisters, making her no slouch either.

However, some feel it’s best to remember they’re both obscenely rich.

The list rounds out with David Copperfield, Diddy, and a tie between Tiger Woods and James Patterson, both at $800 million.
