Amy Schumer has just entered the second trimester of her pregnancy. While many say the second trimester is easier than the first, Schumer is suffering from a condition called hyperemesis gravidarum.
It is characterized by severe nausea, vomiting, weight loss and electrolyte disturbance. Some cases require occasional hospitalization for intravenous nutrients.
Schumer has shared videos of her difficult pregnancy to dispel the notion that every pregnancy has to be easy and characterized by a “pregnancy glow.”
She posted these photos and videos to Instagram of what her Christmas was like.
The first video shows her vomiting on the side of the road before she turns to the camera and states, “Merry Christmas”.
She also posted a photo of herself lying on the floor surrounded by dogs.
Her pregnancy has been rough enough that she has had to cancel comedy engagements.

Texas I am so deeply sorry. I have been really looking forward to these shows. I have to reschedule. I am in the hospital. I’m fine. Baby’s fine but everyone who says the 2nd trimester is better is not telling the full story. I’ve been even more ill this trimester. I have hyperemesis and it blows. Very lucky to be pregnant but this is some bullshit! Sending so much love to the doctors and nurses taking great care of me and Tati! They are cool as hell! And Texas I am really really sorry and I’ll be out there as soon as I’m better.
Thanks @amyschumer for being so honest about her pregnancy! I have #hyperermesisgravidarum too and it sucks big!! When not even water stays in your body this is no joke. I am not glowing but puking my heart out. Doesnt mean I dont love the child growing in me. #pregnancy

The first time I had morning sickness I was on a bus & when it stopped I ran off & sprayed the bus stop with vomit in front of everyone I was covered in it. I tossed my shirt & my hubby gave me his so I could get new clothes with some dignity now that's a funny pregnancy story ????

Hyperemesis gravidarum is no joke… my wife was 30lbs lighter right before birth than she was the day we found out she was pregnant…. and had had IV fluids multiple times during the pregnancy…. leave the poor woman alone

I had this with the twins pregnancy and it’s HORRIBLE! I was hospitalized then put on bed rest for the last 4 months and wear an IV dispenser attached to my thigh to dispense fluid into my body. But the blessing comes at the end! pic.twitter.com/9HHtpKzjJR
