Life doesn’t always go swimmingly, even for the rich and famous. While problems are relative, we all experience dark times in our lives and sometimes we all need a little reassurance.
In a post to social media, Bialik shared her problems big and small.

The government is in a shutdown, it’s Christmas Eve day, I’m newly single and not doing so well to be quite honest. But the most pressing issue right now is that my cats – after 2 years together – have started a dominance war that involves urine and feces. Long story short my bed is not able to be slept in and I’m sleeping on my couch. Just keeping you updated as to my life here. Happy Erev 🎄Christmas!
She noted her loneliness on Christmas Eve after breaking up with her boyfriend of five years last month, and her trepidation at the government’s partial shutdown. Her biggest worry, however, appeared to be her cats relieving themselves on her bed.
Fans responded with wishes of support.

Too true in too many households… wishing everyone peace, hope, and renewed faith with the new year… and please seek mental help support if everything becomes too dark and dismal…

A day later, she reported she was in better spirits, going out for Chinese food and a movie. In the photo she is smiling and wearing earrings her friend’s daughter gave her.
She did seem, as she says, “Better this morning.”

Better this morning. Couch more comfortable with blanket as substitute sheet. New earrings by my friend’s daughter Iris cheered me up. Cat on meds for kidney infection and hopefully he will be better soon. 🐈 Heading to a 🍿 movie and Chinese food. Like we do. #whatjewsdoonxmas …Merry 🎄 Christmas, everyone!
Fans were happy she was in better spirits.

Again, I rarely ever use instagram. Occasionally check-in, so maybe this type of personal revelation is common and I am missing something.
But Mayim Bialik’s post shows us that money and fame contain no guarantees.
People break-up and it’s awful for anyone. 💔

Real talk though…break ups suck.

Bialik posted on her blog last month about spending Thanksgiving with ex-husband Michael Stone, their two sons, and Stone’s girlfriend and kids. She joined them after her own relationship ended, right before the holiday season.
In another post earlier this month, she talked about being newly single during the holiday season.
“There is rarely good timing for a break up. But most certainly, the worst time is now. In case he is reading this, I’m just meh with this timing. Because say what you will, the holidays are a time to not be recently broken up.”
She goes on to describe how she’s getting over it and, as she says on Twitter, she’s trying to follow her own advice. Here’s hoping better days are ahead.
