Ariel Winter Savages Critic Who Blames Her Weight Loss On Drug Abuse

Let 2019 be the year every internet troll gets put in their place and we all live happier, healthier lives.

Ariel Winter, the 20-year-old star of Modern Family, kicked things off right by soundly shutting down two Instagram commenters who decided first to body-shame her then imply she’d been losing weight by taking drugs.

Winter posted a photo of herself celebrating the new year with boyfriend Levi Meaden on Instagram:

In one photo, she seems to be holding a wine glass, prompting one questionably well-meaning jokester to comment:

“drinking underage! Very bad! lol”

Replying to the comment in good faith, Winter responded:

“Honestly anything acidic kills my stomach so I really just held his because I didn’t want to be the only one toasting with water…lol”

Then, seeming to ignore Winter’s response, a troll responded brazenly to the original comment:

“not half as bad as all the coke/meth she uses. She literally dropped 30 ponds.”

If you come at the Queen, you best not miss.

Winter first shut down the troll by pointing out their spelling error:

“yup…I dropped 30 bodies of water so fast…”

She then continued to sarcastically mock the troll, whose username was coque714:

“And yes!! My psychiatrist switched me from my previous antidepressant that didn’t work and made me gain weight, to coke/meth!! Definitely not a new one that worked and then regulated my metabolism. Coke/meth was a controversial decision but she stands by it.”

In a bizarre turn, the internet commenter then took a patronizing tone and decided to lecture Winter on how she lives the life he knows nothing about.

He also threw in a creepy compliment for good measure:

“Cute. 30 pounds. Adderall does that. Not hating. You’re actually gorgeous. But pills and nose candy go hand in hand with Hollywood. Enjoy yourself, but don’t get ruined by it.”

Needless to say, this didn’t sit well with the actress:

“Thanks for the compliment…? I’m sure you know EXACTLY what goes on or is hand in hand with EVERYONE in Hollywood seeing as everyone knows everything about people they DON’T know. And apparently everyone does the same thing now??? I couldn’t have lost weight for any other reason just because of the industry I’m in?”

She continued:

“I’m not trying to be rude, but I am trying to let you know that telling someone how something happened to them AFTER they told you what actually happened (only the person it happened to would know) is s—-y and completely arrogant.”

“I don’t need to explain myself to anyone. No one does. However, I want to cut this s— out of my thread right now. I think it definitely counts as hating on someone when you completely ignore the truth coming from the actual person, just to follow your own fantasy narrative.”

Having starred as Alex on Modern Family since she was ten years old, Winter is no stranger to the endless sexism and trolling of the internet. She spent a large portion of 2017 defending her clothing choices on Instagram and Twitter (something no one should have to do).

Twitter is behind Winter all the way!

The actress even took a hiatus from social media in July 2018 because she was so sick of its toxicity. A representative for Winter commented at the time:

“Ariel has taken a break from Twitter and engaging with commenters on her other platforms because of the constant negativity she experiences. She needs a moment to breathe and enjoy herself without judgement.”

She returned to Twitter later that month, and continues to fight the good fight to improve the way we view our own bodies every day!
