A Twitter user tried to argue that women who dye their hair are toxic and should be avoided — citing biological examples.
Twitter user @AJA_Cortes posted several tweets comparing the bright colors some women like to dye their hair to aposematism, the phenomenon in nature in which poisonous animals are brightly-colored to warn off predators.
It did not go well for him.
Already, there’s an issue with the comparison. In addition to the difference between natural coloration and a person choosing to color their hair, aposematic coloring protects some species from predators.
People were quick to let him have it.
Aposematism is a warning signal to protect against predators, you hilarious fuckup. https://t.co/B5UmIXxtgL

My two fav aspects of this whole thing:
1. Dudebros haven't found out about Batesian mimicry yet
2. Aposematic colours, in addition to repelling predators, can also be used to attract/impress the sex partners that an animal actually wants.

When your only example is a fictional character, expect the takedowns to be swift and brutal.
You can always tell a dude is a scrub when he explains a thing humans do by comparing it to something he believes about the animal kingdom.

I was on some random reddit thread about the Harry Potter books and someone mentioned that they didn’t like Tonks as a character because they prefer girls with natural color hair and I think about it a lot.

@AJA_Cortes is a self-described trainer, writer, and speaker, who retweets rightwing personalities like Mike Cernovich and Jack Posobiec, orchestrators of the Pizzagate and Seth Rich conspiracies. He has a newsletter and program to “master your mental and physical health,” but we have a feeling people won’t be signing up any time soon after this.
