Mike Huckabee Is Concerned About ‘Biblical Principles’ In America—And His ‘Biggest Threat’ Has Us Rolling Our Eyes

Whenever Mike Huckabee thinks about marriage equality, the former Arkansas Governor trembles.

That’s because, according to an interview with the Christian Post, the Christian minister and father of White House press secretary Sarah Sanders believes that redefining gender and sexual equality is the “greatest threat” to America’s moral fiber.

He also blamed the Church for failing to uphold the values of what it means to be a man or a woman.

“The biggest threat to biblical principles today is the failure to apply a biblical standard of maleness and femaleness,” said Huckabee.

“We are creating this illusion that there is no gender, there is no identity, and I’m blaming the Christian Church.”

Huckabee traced the origin for the downfall of humanity back to 1970 when California introduced the “no-fault divorce” in which he believes one “could go in and out of it without a second thought.”

Previously, there had to be a “marital fault” for a divorce to be granted:

“That’s when we first started losing that sense of sacredness of what marriage meant.”

People identified the real threat since Huckabee has his blinders on.

He said he wasn’t surprised that “same-sex marriage has become in vogue” once the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the Constitution guarantees a right to same-sex marriage.

“So I’m not really that surprised that same sex-marriage has become in vogue because the Christian Church were the ones who essentially abdicated a strict responsibility about what biblical marriage should look like.”

His use of the phrase “in vogue” stumped Twitter.

The despised politician needs to get over himself.

Lisbeth Meléndez Rivera, director of faith outreach for the Human Rights Campaign, believes the former Southern Baptist pastor’s rhetoric is a toxic one and is a contributing factor of suicide among the young LGBTQ community.

She told Huffington Post in a statement:

“The future of the Christian Church in the U.S. depends on the voices of the faithful who will continue to be vocal in supporting marginalized communities, and on LGBTQ people who are working to strengthen and transform our faith communities ― even in the face of these dangerous, exclusionary voices.”

Isaac Archuleta, a queer Christian counselor based in Denver, told HuffPo that he respects the diversity of God’s creation, and believes the politician’s anti-LGBTQ views disparages God’s creativity and makes the LGBTQ youth feel fearful and ashamed.

“When we start shaming [God’s creativity], we’re going to feel like we’re doing God a favor when we start shaming God’s created children,” Archuleta said. “And then those children will start living in that shame. That is homophobia; that is transphobia.”

Huckabee added in his interview that young Christians must reject the impulse the express what they are feeling and identifying themselves as a certain way.

Instead, he suggested:

“We need to be bold and say, ‘It doesn’t matter what you feel. It doesn’t matter what you think, or what you believe; what matters is truth. Real truth is objective; it’s not subjective. We may see things differently, but there’s only one truth.”

Save your breath, Mike Huckabee. Your “truth” is not welcome here.
