Sarah Sanders Is Getting Dragged Hard After Saying Congress Isn’t ‘Smart Enough’ To Understand Trump’s Taxes

President Donald Trump is the first president in modern history to refuse to release his tax returns. To explain this, he’s repeatedly lied and said he’s unable to release the tax returns while under audit by the IRS.

While it’s HIGHLY unlikely he’s actually under a multi-year audit, there’s also nothing that prevents him from releasing his returns even while being audited—Richard Nixon, who is somewhat famous for his illegal actions, released his tax returns while being audited in the 1970s.

The IRS itself, while not revealing whether Trump’s audit claims are accurate, has acknowledged that they have no restrictions about tax returns being released while under audit.

Yet it seems Trump’s administration will go to any lengths to ensure the American people never know how much money Trump has, to whom he owes money, how much he has paid in taxes, and many other questions.

While appearing on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace, Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told the host that Trump wouldn’t release his tax returns to Congress because they weren’t smart enough to understand them:

“This is a dangerous, dangerous road, and frankly Chris, I don’t think Congress — particularly not this group of congressmen and women — are smart enough to look through the thousands of pages that I would assume that President Trump’s taxes will be.”

Sanders’ comments got roasted by members of Congress on Twitter, who couldn’t help but point out the hypocrisy of a woman with her background insulting THEIR intelligence.

Sanders shouldn’t be insulting ANYONE’S intelligence, let alone the elected officials in Congress.

Congress is filled with incredibly brilliant people, many of them well-versed in the tax code.

Many people online were disappointed in how far the position of Press Secretary has fallen under Sanders’s watch.

Several members of Congress have literally written books on the Tax Code.

There were a couple of small points that Congresspeople admitted they might not understand 100%…

As the public outcry for President Trump’s taxes continues to grow, the White House continues to dodge questions about the subject with easily disprovable lies. Meanwhile, the Democrat-controlled House has filed a formal request to the IRS for Trump’s tax returns, which the administration is fighting tooth-and-nail to keep under wraps.

One has to wonder—if every modern President (even RICHARD NIXON) has been able to voluntarily release his tax returns, and Trump refuses to show his…what is he trying to hide?
