Piers Morgan Is Getting Dragged For Tweeting The Most Hypocritical Photo After Shaming Megan Rapinoe

Conservative newscaster and avid Trump supporter Piers Morgan made ripples on Friday after the U.S. defeated France in the Women’s World Cup quarterfinals.

The win came at the foot of 33-year-old soccer sensation Megan Rapinoe, who gave the U.S. their 2-1 lead with her masterful delivery of the ball to the back of the net.

But it’s Rapinoe’s outspokenness that has found her in the news as of late.

She’d already sparked controversy from some corners by protesting the national anthem earlier in the tournament, calling out the gender pay disparity between male and female national team members and apparently celebrating too hard with her teammates during their 13-0 blowout win against Thailand.

Then, last Tuesday, Rapinoe made headlines when a video went viral in which she said “I’m not going to the f***ing White House” if the U.S. women win the World Cup, even surmising that Trump wouldn’t bother to invite them given his track record.

Watch her remarks here:

Naturally, Trump responded with criticism on Twitter to Rapinoe’s comments (while initially tagging the wrong Rapinoe in a since deleted tweet).

Here’s the President’s corrected response:

Needless to say, all eyes were on Rapinoe during the match with France, with many wondering how she would respond on the field to the drama off the field.

The controversy back home certainly didn’t seem to phase her, as she celebrated her two goals by holding her arms out in triumph.

The gesture instantly turned into an anti-Trump meme:

Piers Morgan, however, was not impressed, and took to Twitter to criticize Rapinoe’s “stupendous ego.”

This tweet alone was enough to draw the ire of many on Twitter.

So when Morgan showed his sexist side again by tweeting this photo of a cricket player’s celebration just a few days later…

…Twitter was quick to call him out for his blatant hypocrisy.

There were, of course, those who defended Morgan’s comments as simply a show of national pride ahead of the U.S.’s semifinal match against England.

Morgan will certainly have more to say after Tuesday’s matchup, particularly if Rapinoe scores again.

And Twitter will be right there, waiting to pounce.
